As my spring semester inches up on me, I have been doing a lot of thinking about how to make the most of my last semester of college. I know–I can’t believe it either! It feels so weird to say that I am graduating out loud. (Or rather, type it out in a blog post.) Because many college bloggers are in the same boat–refreshing for a new semester–Allie from Call Me Sassafras and I decided to host a collab post all about our semester goals.
1. Update my resume, online portfolio, attend job fairs and go to networking events.
I want to start actively figuring out my next step for my career and my plans post-grad, which means doing all the career things. LinkedIn, resume building and the works! This is one of my main focuses this semester, but I also hope to have fun and enjoy my last semester as a college student. If you all have any job application tips, send them my way!
2. Spend quality time with my friends on campus.
I want to end my college years with a fun semester, full of meaningful conversations over coffee with friends, nights full of laughter and trying new things and participating in most of the traditions at my school. I hope to complete my senior year bucket list, or at least get pretty close!
3. Find a topic for my capstone paper that interests me.
In my strategic communications major, our final class in a capstone in communications, where we write a large research paper. I hope to find a topic that truly interests me so that I will enjoy this class!
4. Go further creatively.
I have several projects this semester that will inspire me creatively: an interactive magazine for the yearbook, web projects for my job at our on-campus communication agency, and of course, plans for this blog!
5. Workout at least once (ideally 2-3 times) per week.
Living on campus means living closer to the gym, so I hope to make working out a priority this semester. Some weeks are better than others, but I know I can get busy in the semester and forget about working out. I don’t want to have this mindset, but I do want to think realistically! I think 1-3 times a week would be a nice middle ground.
6. Spend more time outside, at my favorite spots around campus.
Instead of doing homework in my apartment, I could go to a coffee shop on campus or lay outside and read a book. Because I simply love living on campus, I would love to take advantage of it more this semester. The photos throughout this post are some of my favorite places around my college town. I love how some of the simple things make a huge difference in our quality of life–getting sunshine, loving the environment where you live.
With all goals, I hope to take them one step at a time. This semester won’t be like other semesters, but there will be less stress from my classes, but more stress from organizations and job searching. It will all be an adventure, but it’s so good to have people around me going through the same thing!
