Last Saturday, I had the chance to meet up with a few bloggers from an awesome community called The Peony Project. Seven of us gathered at Amelies French Bakery in Charlotte, NC. This was my first time in Charlotte and going to Amelies definitely didn’t disappoint! The bakery/cafe was huge! With so much framed art dotting the walls and fascinating chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, I was transported back to a European city. It was the perfect atmosphere to get to know a few bloggers and talk about life.
We arrived around 11am and met up with the other ladies. We first decided to get our food. Since I got up early that day, I decided to go for an early lunch. I chose a salad with apple slices, dried cranberries and pecans, also with a tomato soup. It was a soup and salad kind of day, and I was absolutely thrilled with it!
Then, our lovely hosts Sarah and Laura, planned some fun get-to-know-you games! They involved M&Ms, so I knew anything with chocolate would be good. Everyone received a mini pack of M&Ms and then counted out each of the colors they had. Then, according to the numbers of each color, we went around in a circle answering questions that referred to a color. For example, orange was our favorite foods, green was our favorite place to visit, and red was some of our hobbies. This was a great way to get us chatting about life outside our blogs.
After that, we had a mug exchange and continued to chat. It overall was a fun experience! I always love going to blogger meet ups and hearing about everyone’s life adventures. On the way home (I carpooled with Madison of Wetherills Say I Do and Lauren of Sunshine & Sweet Tea), we stopped at IKEA and Hobby Lobby. It was my first time (that I remember) at an IKEA, so it was definitely an experience! Then of course, I can never pass up a Hobby Lobby, so we ended up getting a couple of odds & ends there as well.
Overall, it was a great first trip down to Charlotte and a fun blogger meet up. I hope to do more exploring of the Charlotte area, and continue fostering relationships with other bloggers in person. I think it’s so fun to talk about blogging over coffee or some lunch and it can never get old!
