Lay on the floor. And take a look up at the room around you.
Take a look at your surroundings.
What are you grateful for?
What are you thankful for?
As I transfer into a busy season of the year (and one of the busiest weeks of my college career), I need to sit back and remember why I’m here. I need to remember that life is not about me and that so many things would not be possible if not for the people and circumstances that God so gracefully brought into my life. I need to consciously and intentionally say thanks. A true thanks. One that seeps through the soul and makes you aware of you are living life not on your terms, but on the terms of the one much greater.
And so today I sit with hands open and heavy eyelids. I come to say thanks to what makes my soul breathe:
- My apartment and a room to call my own
- My family and friends who support and love me when I don’t deserve
- A chance to learn and be educated by some great minds
- The ability to explore
- Fruits and veggies and access to food that is good for me
- A time for rest
- Bright colors and carefree dreams
- Walks with my mom
- The opportunity to expand my skills and do what I love
- Knowledge of what is healthy, pure and good
- Access to wisdom
- Comfort in my own skin
- A community that helps me break my fears
- Love that is infinite and pure
As a prepare for another week, I come with grateful energy that is not about asking for more, but living with less. I come ready to make gratefulness a catalyst to release the positive and radiate the light. I come prepared to feel deep within my bones the people, places and things that I can’t control that bring me to where I stand.
Openly and warmly, I extend this invitation to think about how you stand, how your words, actions and heart speak thankfulness. What are you thankful for? How can our thankfulness be a positive force in this world? How are you planning to be grateful even during busyness or when life gets out of control? Let’s come together to know that we can all work on this mindset, cultivate it and learn to make it grow.
Today, I’m linking up with ember grey for grateful heart monday. Would you want to join us?
