Earlier this month, my sorority sisters and I gathered together to paint pumpkins as part of a fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Awareness in September. Our theme was teal, to spread awareness, but we also got creative in other ways, as we decorated pumpkins. Spoiler alert: it involved feathers and jewels!
We started off by spray painting some of the pumpkins blue, silver or white. We spray painted them outside on the grass to avoid messes, but then brought them inside to decorate more. I loved this project since it was a good way to explore creativity and use a variety of materials to decorate the pumpkins.
Some of the materials we used were: glitter glue, ribbon, flower stickers, jewel stickers, teal paint (as well as other colors) and much more craft supplies!
I can’t take credit for all of these designs, but my sorority sisters who helped have such creative eyes! We repeated using the teal ribbons around the pumpkins to show support for Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
In total, we decorated 25 pumpkins! It was a lot, but it was a fun time and a great way to relax one Sunday afternoon. It has inspired me this October to get in the fall spirit and fuel my creative side this autumn.
Do you carve or paint pumpkins during the fall season?
