Last week, I found my perfect recipe for a green smoothie! It’s taken me all summer, but since I’ve been back at school, I’ve loved sipping on a smoothie as a nice treat on the weekend or in the mornings before class. Now, this smoothie is more than a treat: it is full of healthy greens and a tropical taste to make you feel like you need a hammock and some sunscreen.
While food isn’t a regular topic on this blog, I hope you enjoy this recipe, because I think this smoothie is a perfect thing to add to your college or work lifestyle for energy and health. I also wanted to share this with you because healthy food always inspires me. I think it is really important to feed and fuel your body with the things it needs so we can ultimately live to our fullest selves.
This recipe is simple, kale-less (nothing against kale, but sometimes it’s hard to buy or hard to get used to the taste, at least for me) and full of fruit and greens. Also, don’t hate me for not putting exact measurements! It’s okay to estimate with smoothies!
Tropical Green Smoothie
- 1 handful of spinach (the more, the greener!)
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 banana
- Spoonful of chia seeds (optional)
- Add mango, banana, chia seeds and spinach to a blender
- Add water until it fills almost past the other ingredients (enough to blend)
- Blend well and serve!
- Feel free to garnish with spinach or mango slices!
*Makes two servings!
I could probably drink a smoothie everyday! I love this one because I just use the frozen bags of mango from Target and bananas and spinach are so easy to find. Plus, these ingredients allow for the bright green color from the spinach (unlike some smoothies I’ve tried in the past)! Whether you are in the mood for some tropical flavor or a healthy drink, this smoothie is simple, clean and sweet anytime!
