Whew! The fall season is now in full swing! As I start to make my fall goals and get into the semester, I wanted to look back on my summer goals for this year.
As I look back on my goals, I am actually surprised to see what I accomplished!
1. Save money and get organized financially.
Check! While I did not have a regular job this summer that paid every two weeks, I did babysit and tutor English, which paid well by the hour. But I mostly focused on not spending money when I didn’t need to. I also wrote down everything I made and all money I spent. I still need to final calculations, but I feel more comfortable financially going into my senior year than I did thinking about it at the beginning of the summer. Study abroad can have a powerful force over your bank account, in case you didn’t know!
2. Send postcards to my Spanish host family.
Check! I did this early in the summer and sent them a postcard from my college!
3. Read 5 books.
Almost-Check! I read four books: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo, Little Princes: One Man’s Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal by Conor Grennan, and Blog Inc. by Joy Cho.
4. Try 3 recipes.
Check! I made chia seed pudding (which kind of failed), baked spaghetti squash and espinacas con garbonzos, a dish from Spain, which is chick peas and spinach. Plus, I tried a lot of different salads this summer. Food-wise, this summer was a success! Keep up with my recipes and salads on Instagram!
5. Run, run, run!
Run, I did do! I was able to get up to four miles, but I really just enjoyed running for fun and recreation, not for miles. I liked how it got me outside to see the beauty in my neighborhood.
6. Visit the farmer’s market.
Check x 2! I went to two farmer’s markets: one in my town and one in my grandpa’s neighborhood. The second one was a lot of fun! There were a lot more people sharing their artwork, their business and their products. I loved the environment of it all: live music, fresh flowers and an array of colorful foods.
7. Make my study abroad scrapbook and/or wall art.
Done! I make my study abroad wall art a couple weeks ago and I can’t wait to share it with you!
So that’s a wrap for my summer goals! It looks like the only thing I didn’t accomplish was reading the fifth book out of five books. But I have all this fall semester to read plenty of travel books for my travel writing class and other textbooks for my strategic campaigns class. Stay tuned for my fall goals for this semester!
What are your goals for the fall? Did you accomplish your goals from this summer?
I love talking about making and reaching goals. It’s so interesting to me to see what others hope to accomplish!
