Welcome back to another round of siteseeing this weekend. If you missed the intro post to my new Siteseeing Series, Siteseeing is a blend of my favorite links and travel inspiration for your weekend all in one. Come to travel the world or surf the web!
This weekend I am actually taking a little road trip. The family and I are heading down to Kentucky to visit my cousins and aunts and uncles from my mom’s side of the family. I haven’t seen them in years. It’s hard to get together since we live all over the place and since we have a big family. My mom’s sister has 11 kids!
I’m so excited to see them and take in the Kentucky countryside. I’m all packed and ready to go. I’m bringing along a new playlist for the nine-hour drive and some comfy clothes for the hotel. Also, a notebook for blog post planning and journaling! But I’m mostly going to be focusing on unwinding and family time.
If you’re spending a weekend catching up on some reading, here’s some awesome reads I’ve pinned, tweeted or starred this week:
- An amazing mint dress from a summer dream on my sweet friend’s blog
- How to beat anxiety when making decisions — a heartfelt post full of truth that inspired me to take a look at how I make the big decisions in life
- Floral table settings with touches of pineapple
- This Anchor Love shirt from Lauren James is everything I love in a shirt design!
- This is a great reminder on how to live a minimalist life and take care of the environment at the same time.
- How starting a blog and/or a youtube channel may land you a dream job!
- Why looking at all the little things you love in life really matter
- This is why fairytales are real
I love this quote this weekend, because it reminds us that traveling means taking our past, our experiences, and our passions with us wherever we go. Also, it truly makes me realize the most important part of traveling: being surrounded by people that you love and being able to make a difference in their lives. Traveling to meet up with my family has been so important and I’m so grateful that I can go somewhere and go with all that I am, with all my heart and with people I love.
Today’s Destination is the Outer Banks, North Carolina. The Outer Banks brings back so many memories from family vacations. That’s where my family went last year to enjoy summer break for a week. If you go to the Outer Banks, be sure to take advantage of the gorgeous ocean, collect sea shells and eat all the seafood your heart desires. Also, take a drive down to see wild horses in Corolla Beach. Explore the multiple lighthouses in the area and soak in everything about the coastal life. If you’re in the mood for some history, the Wright Brother’s National Memorial gives you a look into the first in flight experience. There are so many things to fuel your adventure side including hand gliding, jet skiing, boating, fishing, parasailing and more. Some of my favorite things to do are exploring the sand dunes and taking nature walks through parks a couple miles away from the shore. There’s nothing like relaxing on a beach and getting lost inside a forest of trees.
What are you all doing this weekend? Have you been to the Outer Banks?
