Today feels like a true summer day. I woke up without setting an alarm and I began my summer morning routine of eating breakfast while reading blogs, then working out and getting ready for the day. The past month of May has been a mix of so many places, things, beginnings and endings, friends, exploring and resting.
At the beginning of the month, I was wrapping up my time abroad in Spain, and I came back to the U.S. May 7. After two days at home with my family, I flew to North Carolina to hang out with my college friends and see the seniors graduate (which is what I will do next year! Crazy!) After being in NC for two weeks, I spent a relaxing Memorial Day with family friends and began my summer life back at home. Since I got back to the U.S., I’ve found a couple favorites throughout my day-to-day routines and I even have a couple May favorites that I got abroad in Europe!
DENIM JACKETS & STRIPES: I’ve been OBSESSED with denim jackets lately. I bought my first one last fall, got another one from my best friend for Christmas, and then I didn’t pack any when I was abroad in Spain, so I picked up a light-wash jean jacket there. I’ve been wearing it so much lately and it was the perfect item to keep warm while traveling through Europe in the spring. Paired with stripes, it was golden!
TRIBAL NECKLACES: I bought a tribal necklace in Lagos, Portugal that I couldn’t stop wearing. It is a black oval shape with trip designs on it. It also has an adjustable string so I can wear it at different lengths too.
BOOK: THE FAULT IN OUR STARS: I read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green from beginning to end on my flight from Madrid to New York. It was so good and it kept me occupied and awake during the flight. I am so excited to see the movie coming out! It was such a good, quick read and I recommend it very much!
LILLY PULITZER TUMBLER: I’ve been loving my tumbler cups lately ever since I went to Target to pick up a new one for the two weeks I spent at school–just to have a personal cup to use for water. Once I got home, I realized I loved just keeping a tumbler full of water, tea or lemonade throughout the day. I’ve found they’re so convenient to take on the go–much better than a plastic water bottle! And cuter too! You can find some Lilly Pulitzer ones here!
HERBAL ESSENCE NAKED SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER: These mint shampoo and conditioner are paraben-free and made without artificial color. I didn’t know this line had a mint scent, or else I might have not bought it, but I ended up LOVING the refreshing mint in this shampoo. I switch around my shampoos often, but this is the first one in awhile that I really like, so I will probably be repurchasing it!
LACE SHOES: I bought these lace little sneakers back in Spain at a store called Lefties, another store owned by Zara, with cheaper fashion options. I loved how the cream, floral lace looked perfect for spring and that they were comfortable to walk in around the city. I will be pairing them with shorts and dresses this summer.
JO TOTES GRACIE BLACK CAMERA BAG: I know this is an awesome camera bag, but let me be honest: I use this bag as a purse! I’ve been carrying it around with me everywhere since it is a great size and I love the way it looks! It also has the perfect amount of pockets and can fit my 13″ Macbook Pro if I need it one day. I love the black basic color and the fact that it has one cross-body strap and one regular strap. Overall, I’ve just been obsessed!! Get yours at Jo Totes!
ONEREPUBLIC “NATIVE” ALBUM: Oh. My. Goodness. This is simply the best music I’ve heard in a while. I love this whole album and it’s been the soundtrack to my study abroad adventures. I’m so excite that I can say I’m seeing them in concert the end of June! My favorite songs on this album would have to be “I Lived,” “Counting Stars,” “Life in Color,” “Burning Bridges,” and “Something I Need.” Do you like OneRepublic? Let me know your favorite songs in the comments!
“DREAMER” BY DeScribe: I love the words of this song and the rhythm of it. I found it randomly online through NoiseTrade, and I had no idea who sang it for awhile, but then I found out it was DeScribe. It was a perfect song for traveling and getting into the summer spirit. Download “DREAMER” at NoiseTrade! <
AMERICAN AUTHORS: This is my latest obsession! I will be seeing them perform with OneRepublic in June and I can’t wait. I heard their song, “Best Day of My Life,” but I never listened to their whole album, so I looked them up on Spotify (another new addiction) and ended up LOVING all their songs! If you like OneRepublic, you would love American Authors!
That’s all for my favorites! I can’t wait to celebrate more summer this June. I have graduations, graduation parties, concerts, conventions and cooking planned! What about you? What have you been loving this month?
