The excitement of Christmas is truly sinking in for me, and I wanted to take a couple of moments to relish and reflect on such a joyous time.
Today was full of last-minute shopping, sipping hot chocolate, wrapping presents and eating a yummy dinner. Even though it’s sometimes hard to shop with the men of the family and even though it’s still hard recovering from my wisdom teeth surgery, there are so many blessings around me.
Family is wonderful, and I’m so blessed to have amazing friends, parents, family and people around me. I’m so blessed to have an incredible Lord watching over me and loving me. Even in the moments when I lose my footing, I doubt or I hurt.
I can always come to him. I can always adore him.
“O Come All Ye Faithful” is one of my favorite Christmas carols, and it’s my mom’s favorite too. I love how it reminds us that faith and love are at the basis of our love for Jesus. We are called to come. We are called to adore him and love him and others.
Last Sunday, one of my pastor’s main points during the sermon was, “Our spiritual lives are driven by God.” He is in control of our spiritual lives. While it does take some work on our part–we have to say, “Yes,” to Jesus–our spiritual journey is all dependent on him. Sometimes we can get caught up in what we can do for God. But we have this faith, and it comes down to depending on God. He’s already done it all.
So this Christmas, with the spirit of love and joy around us, I want to remember that we are called to come and be faithful. We are called to adore and to love. It’s all about the smiles, the joy, the wonder and excitement of a time where we can celebrate our faith.
Let’s remember our traditions. Let’s forget about the presents. Let’s remember his presence. And let’s be overwhelmed in a love so grand–it goes beyond miracles.
