Last weekend, I had the chance to go camping with some of my favorite people in the world: my sorority sisters and my sisters in Christ!
Let me tell you: camping is intense. But camping with my sorority sisters is amazing. And I can tell you that I learned God works in mysterious ways. Things go differently than planned, but it all seems to work out. The weekend was full of laughs, love and lots of song and dance
We went to Jordan Lake, a state park in North Carolina. And on the way, Retreat Team did our grocery shopping at the Dollar General (which was indeed an accident). As we tried to find a grocery store, we ended up on a wild goose chase to find food for the weekend for 11 girls.
But alas, we found Dollar General and a Food Lion! Then we tried to set up tents in the dark and build a fire with the firewood we had. We opened two cans of baked beans with a pocket knife and cooked them with a stick over the fire.
It was a cold weekend, but that just means more snuggling and warm clothes! I had a hard time going to sleep, but in college, who needs sleep? It was just a good reminder that God is with you always–he is with us even on the coldest, longest nights.
The next day was full of pictures, fashion shoots, dances, games, food and Bible study time. We had a chance to soak up our environment and go down to the lake!
After all of the excitement Saturday, we packed up our things and decided to go hiking.
But we couldn’t find the trail.
So naturally, we decided to get milkshakes instead.
It was the perfect complement to the s’mores the night before. Also, we had to relax and settle down, because as we learned, camping is in tents. Which makes it very intense.
What are your weekend plans?!
