This past weekend I visited Athens, GA for my Sigma Alpha Omega Convention at the University of Georgia. In case you didn’t know before, Sigma Alpha Omega is a Christian sorority with 24 chapters now all around the country. It was simply amazing to connect with girls from all over the nation this past weekend while we all got together for meetings, bonding, worship and fun!
The convention was so amazingly planned. The theme was “It’s the Real Thing,” going off of Coke!
The first night we were there we had a Southern Barbecue dinner outside and it was like something out of Pinterest. Fountains, mason jars, amazing food, cute decorations. It was such a relaxing, refreshing night out with some lovely ladies.
We also learned that at other colleges, you are allowed to jump in fountains. That is a completely unknown concept at my school, so of course we had to jump in and cool off! And take pictures, too!
We also had the chance to visit downtown outside the UGA campus. It was great having lunch with new girls so we could get to know them better. Being in a sorority especially this one is so amazing once you experience sisterly love on a national level. It goes beyond your campus, beyond a group of girls, beyond a community. It’s a larger community, with national reach. With powerful stories. With potential for change.
I am so excited to see what God does through this sorority, as we continue to add chapters around the country.
Are you in a sorority? What do you do to have fun with your sisters throughout the summer?
